Wagga students encounter the Cross & Icon

The JCI team had a day off today, yet that didn’t stop the Cross & Icon from another huge day in the Wagga Wagga diocese!

The community of Culcairn gathered at the crack of dawn for morning Mass with the Cross & Icon before they were moved off to Meter Dei Catholic College for a whole school Mass. The school captains then led all primary and secondary students in a procession around lake Albert where they were finally met by students from Kildare Catholic College, and the Cross & Icon were handed over.

Kildare warmed up for WYD in Sydney with a mini WYD experience of their own. The schedule included procession, dance, prayer, bands and finally Mass with Bishop Hanna. The Cross and Icon were then farewelled with a guard of honour.

To complete a big day out at Wagga schools the Cross & Icon were then received by Mary Mackillop College where the students participated in the Stations of the Cross and prayed the Rosary together.

Final stop for the day was the Rock Nature Reserve where the local community gathered for Stations of the Cross followed by Holy Hour, and Mass at St Mary’s Churh.

It is good to see all the schools of wagga wagga coming together for such a great opportunity to worship God. Well done.
