JCI hits the Wollongong Diocese

The first full day in the Wollongong diocese was a big one!

After an all night Vigil, the youth from Mt Carmel Parish Varroville helped students process the Cross & Icon into Mt Carmel High School this morning. Students also formed a guard of honour for the procession which spanned a few hundred metres; leading us into a packed hall. Here we participated in a liturgy including music, drama, & dance.

We then travelled to the main town of Ingleburn where keen locals met with students close to the railway station and literally stopped traffic as they walked the Cross & Icon to the Holy Family Primary School. Another big crowd was on hand here to celebrate with more great music and involvement of young people.

Next stop was Mary Mother of the Church Macquarie Fields. Here a vibrant youth group welcomed us for the afternoon’s events. First off we had an Aboriginal ceremony outside the Church, followed by a liturgy inside where Fr Chris Riley from Youth off the Streets addressed us with some inspiring words; especially on our call to mission!

The day finished off with a long pilgrimage walk from St Carmel’s Church Varroville to Mary Immaculate Church Eaglevale for a Parish Liturgy.
