This morning was a fantastic start to a great time in Port Lincoln - the 3 photos above show the Cross coming into the school gathering in the church, it being surfed throughout the crowd before finally the students had a chance to venerate the Cross one last time on their way out.
From Port Lincoln we moved onto Cowell to Our Lady Star of the Sea where a Mass was celebrated with the locals and not so locals (some people had driven over 100km to be present). The parishioners fervently prayed for their region, their families and their youth. Some of the parishioners then accompanied us to Lucky Bay.
We waited with anticipation for the ferry at Lucky Bay. Alice (who is originally from the Port Pirie Diocese) couldn't believe that the ferry was finally in operation - apparently it has been a long time coming. We walked the Cross and Icon on via the pedestrian entry with the help of the Cowell parishioners, much to the amusement of the ferry operators!
We arrived in Wallaroo after a 2 hour journey across the Spencer Gulf which cut out a 5 hour drive. We were truly welcomed by the Walaroo locals as we stepped onto their jetty. The Cross and Icon were then processeed very enthusiastically to the Our Lady Star of the Sea Church. It was one of the fastest processions we've ever been involved with. The kids were a pleasure to be with!
