Wagga Wagga farewells WYD Cross and Icon

We arrived in Mulwalla this morning for a Parish liturgy before sneaking across the border to Yarrawonga for a combined schools gathering. We unloaded the Cross overlooking the lake then processed around the park and to the nearby school. Here all the students had an opportunity to venerate the Cross on their way onto the gym for a beautiful liturgy.

We then headed over to Corowa. Here the schools joined with parishioners to welcome the Cross in the church before processing over to the oval and continuing the celebrations with veneration and a BBQ.

We travelled back to Albury and the young people had some time to pray before the Cross and Icon before processing to Noreuil Park before the handover.

The Cross and Icon were walked across the highway bridge into Wodonga and the Sandhurst Diocese. Here they were welcomed by a group of young people for the official diocesan Handover. This was followed by a celebration with dance and music and an outdoor Mass with Bishop Joe Grech.

The Wagga Wagga Diocese has been touched over the past 8 days during their journey with the WYD Cross and Icon. It has been wonderful to witness the way in which God has inspired so many, both young and old, through the simple symbol of the Cross.

Annaliese.
