Celebrating Christian Unity in Manilla

After an 8am Mass at St Patrick’s in West Tamworth, the Cross and Icon were handed over to the representatives of the Manilla parish. Mass was celebrated again with these symbols at St Michael’s before an impressive procession through the town of Manilla. Many came out to see as the young people carried the Cross over the bridge to Coronation Park. A beautiful ecumenical service was celebrated here containing prayer, scripture readings, testimonies and music. I was really struck by the way that the different churches in this town came together demonstrating our Christian unity and the power of Christ's Cross.

The Cross and Icon were then handed over to the youth of Baraba. The parish of St John’s had a wonderful afternoon hanging out with the Cross and Icon. They did a Rosary procession around their grounds (Lourdes Style!), celebrated Mass with live youth music and had an awesome BBQ.
