The sun is shining and the sky is clear and we are in the Riverlands - a beautiful country side area in SA. Today we spent time in Berri, Loxton and Renmark with a theme on processions and praying for much needed rain in the community.With the day starting off with a Pancake breakfast and a mass with the school students it was soon late morning and the Cross and Icon made its way onto Loxton. For me the highlight of
today was the first stop in this town - the public high school. There a few of the high school students gathered to set up the Cross and process it around their school. They then walked it down the street to the footy oval where we were greeted by kids with streamers and fantastic live music from a band made up of primary school students. The atmosphere was fantastic and the liturgy was quite touching especially with the younger students filled the cross with post it notes of the prayers they had made.
Olivia, a year 12 student and the MC at the main liturgy at the footy oval, had organised the day’s events for Loxton, which all turned out fantastic. From here we continued onto Renmark, where the community (in a parish that is without a priest) showed up in strength with a procession from the school to the Murray river by the church with dance and music along the way before finishing the day with a stations of the cross and a shared dinner which was enjoyed by all.

Well done Olivia! It's so great to hear of student encounters with the cross and icon.
There are many people around Australia joining in with the South Australian prayer for rain. God willing it comes.

it was great this morning to be at the Eureka Centre grounds and be part of welcoming the Cross and Icon to Ballarat and then later to join half Ballarat's primary school children and some secondary students at Mckenzie reserve and allow myself to be caught up in the spirit of things ... thanks to the organiser and the entertainer.
