Epic Arrival into The Alice

Following 'stations of the cross' through the middle of the night at the Tenant Creek railway station, our pilgrimage from Darwin has now arrived in Alice Springs. The Our Lady of the Sacred Heart community welcomed the Cross with a World Youth Day style mass lasting over two hours. Patience was shown by all in the church as everyone was given the opportunity for very personal veneration. Music was provided by the Catholic Youth of Alice Springs (CYAS) choir, prayers were given in many different languages representing the diverse activity within the town and local indigenous women performed a liturgical movement during the lamb of God. Later in the day, the Cross, Icon of Our Lady and Message Stick stood tall at the site where a chapel will be built in rememberance of Pope John Paul II's visit to Alice Springs. A more detailed account of this day will be updated shortly.
