Lively mass sets quick pace as Cross processes through heat

This morning the Cross and Icon made their way into the very close knit community at St Martin de Porres. During a very Spirit filled Mass, we as a team were cared for spiritually by being prayed for by the whole community as we were invited to come up the front and venerate the Icon.

While the Mass came to a close the day was just getting under way and the journey down to the Jingili Waters Gardens had begun. It was an epic procession of energy and faith from all those involved as a small contingent of about 50 people made their way through the streets of Casuarina carrying the Cross and the Icon, stopping halfway for a drinks break and to catch our breath before continuing on. After 1hr and a half we made it to the gardens where lunch was shared and a time of songs and prayer was enjoyed around the Cross. Some young people even constructed a large banner for Darwin which will make its way down to WYD next year.

After the final songs had been sung it was off to the Robertson Barracks where defense personnel and their families and friends gathered for evening Mass with the Cross and Icon. With the sun
setting through the windows of a very beautiful church, it was a perfect end to a big day of prayer and celebration.
